Do I need to have any prior business studies background to apply?
No – the Emerging Health Leaders Program is intended to help participants develop their personal leadership skills as well as introduce them to a number of core management concepts and topics.
I’ve completed my course work/classes, can I still apply?
Yes – the Emerging Health Leaders program is currently only open to undergraduate and graduate students who have not convocated.
Recent graduates will be considered on a case by case basis.
What is the timeline for applications and acceptance?
Applications are now open and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Cohorts will be curated and confirmed by Mid March.
Interviews and notice of acceptance dates will be issued directly to the applicant.
Do I need to stay in the hotel residence?
Yes – all participants are to stay in nearby hotel accommodation. Participants will be booked into a double occupancy room that is in close proximity to the Ron Joyce Centre in Burlington. Continental breakfasts as well as shuttle service to the RJC and transportation to any offsite locations will be provided. Single occupancy can be made available at an additional cost, and is subject to availability.
How can this program support my summer employment opportunities?
Employers are increasingly seeking new graduates with the leadership capabilities covered in the 2-week program including the ability to work effectively in and across teams, communicate effectively with others and be creative thinkers and effective implementers. We encourage participants to discuss the program with their employer or potential employer. What does the program fee include?
The total fee for the program is $3000. In addition to academic programming, this fee includes double occupancy accommodation, transportation to and from RJC, continental breakfast and some lunches and dinners (to be noted in program schedule).
Can I opt out of portions of the program fee?
No. It is not possible to opt-out of the accommodation, meals and transportation portions to reduce the tuition cost at this time. This program is structured to be a highly immersive and intensive experience with integrative components. We want all our participants to capitalize on the full value of this unique program, and we found this is the best way to achieve it.
Is financial assistance available for this program?
The Health Leadership Academy is pleased to announce two scholarship opportunities available to EHL students once accepted into the Spring or Summer 2018 cohorts.*
*Scholarship applications should be attached to your EHL program application.
For successful applicants seeking entry into the program, payments may be made in installments. A payment schedule will be provided in late February 2018.
Another option is to speak to your financial advisor or academic counsellor for additional opportunities.
What is the program schedule?
The program runs from Sunday August 19th to Saturday September 1st 2018.
A detailed schedule will be released to admitted individuals prior to the start of each program.
Many days will closely follow an 9:00AM-5:00PM timetable, breaking for lunch midday. Some days will require late nights and optional evening events may be included. Between weeks 1 and 2, participants will have one day off on the weekend. While the schedule can be rigorous at times, participants have found the intensive nature of the program to be an extremely rewarding experience.
