John Rankin

John Rankin

During his career John has held a number of senior positions in the private and public sectors. He was Vice-President Human Resources, Northern Telecom, Senior Vice-President Dealer Relations, Canadian Tire Corporation and President of George Brown College in Toronto.

Since leaving Canadian Tire, he has served as an interim executive in the not-for-profit sector putting his years of experience to work within diverse and iconic Canadian organizations, including Royal Botanical Gardens, Conference Board of Canada and Canadian National Institute for the Blind. He was Executive Director of the Niagara Institute, for forty years a leader in leadership development programming and executive coaching.

A long- time resident of Burlington, he is currently Special Advisor to the Dean at McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business where he is also assisting in the redesign of the MBA program and the development of the Health Leadership Academy.

As a volunteer, John has worked with organizations serving a wide range of Canadians from gifted high school students to prison inmates, from Ontario colleges, universities and hospitals to the Federal Department of National Defence.

He has an MBA in Organizational Behaviour and Operations Research from McMaster University.
